It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood
Thanking God for keeping me and my family safe during the terrible storms that blew threw NC on Saturday. I was hosting a Thirty-one gifts party during the worst of the storm... never thinking it was as serious as I was being told. I could, afterall, see out the back doors and was watching the rain. I didn't know that just a few miles away people were losing their homes. Sad... Sending prayers for those that lost loved ones and homes to this terrible storm. Bless you all...

Mod Podging... better known as
decoupaging ... I used to decoupage when I was in high school.. good old Ms Ballard, my English teacher, got me started. She was young, hip, cute and a very good teacher. I haven't thought of docoupaging in years.. until recently... I've been blog surfing.. which, by the way, is dangerous.. surfing of any kind is I suppose, but, for me, blog surfing is extremely so... I get lost in blogs and end up doing absolutely nothing for an entire day.. heck, truth be told, for days on end.. but, I digress.. back to decoupage. Back in the day.. oh, say, 1971 or 72, I used good old Elmer's Glue .. with a tad bit of water.. these days someone has "invented" Mod Podge which, is the equevalent of my trusty old Elmer's Glue and water but cost much more. I have been wanting to make some crafty things for gifts, for the girls, for the boys rooms, for my entire house. With Mod Podge, a canvas, my trusty Cricut Expression and time I plan to do just that.. in fact, I've tried a couple of things.. most of them were scraped off and will be used again.. I did send one out as a PIF. They said they loved it.. I can only hope it's true! LOL.. I hope to journal some of my better items.. maybe even the not so good ones.. we'll see.. For now, the thought is there, the items have been purchased all I have to do is choose the best one to begin with.. so.. with that being said... Let the FUN begin...
to be continued...

The middle of March... ALREADY?
Seriously? I haven't posted in so long I almost forgot I have a blog.. of course, since I'm the only one reading it it doesn't really matter~! ha!
I've decided it's Spring Cleaning time.. at least upstairs. I've given up on the basement.. I'm pretty sure it's a lost cause.. if I weren't so lazy I'd go down and take a picture just to prove it.. but.. I'm too lazy.. way too lazy.. besides I've been up and down those stairs enough for one day..
Great exercise.. and since I haven't done that lately I'm pretty sure my legs and rear will be aching tomorrow.. oh well.. such is the life .. maybe that will jump start me back on my program! LOL...
The dining room is the chosen project.. it's not nearly as bad as it was right after christmas.. I do have pictures of that.. however, it isn't perfectly clean either.. so, the dining room will be getting a makeover.. tomorrow..

Happy New Year!
Here's hoping all of my friends and family have a healthy, happy New Year!
Starting off the New Year off right... collards, pork roast, black eye peas, tea, pecan pie and friends... Not necessarily in that order!

Buckeye Ball Recipe
1 stick butter, softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 lb confectioner's sugar
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 block parafin wax
In mixer bowl blend butter and peanut butter until thoroughly mixed. With mixer on low speed add in sugar. Mixture will be lumpy. Add 1 TBLS water at a time to mixture, mixing well after each TBLS until it resembles play doh. Roll into 1 inch balls, place on waxpaper lined cookie sheet. Chill for about an hour.
Meanwhile in double boiler melt 12 oz chocolate chips and 1/4 block parafin wax. Blend well to mix wax completely with chocolate chips.
Using toothpick or dipping fork dip chilled peanutbutter balls to cover halfway. Place on cookie sheet. Chill until set.
These candies freeze well. *you can substitute 1 or 2 tbls crisco for parifin wax but your chocolate will be a little sticky*

Have I mentioned how Blessed I am??
I have 5 wonderful grandchildren ... I should thank my kids and their spouses for that.. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful family..
Recently my daughter Courtney and her family have been going through some things.. her youngest son was diagnoised with Scolosis.. he had RSV, Zeke has had the standard cold... through all of this her faith *and Spencer's* has remained so strong and steadfast.. I admire her that.. I wish I could be that strong.. in fact, I admire all of my kids.. each in their own way teach me something new every day...
Thank you kids.. I love you all..
